Frustrate His enemies
Pray with us that God would confuse and frustrate the efforts of God's enemies during this time. After all this time, the Catholic church is trying to rear it's ugly head and the Mormons want to have some influence.
Our influence continues
Continue to pray with us as we minister to the miner's families. They still are having a hard time accepting the fact that they will never see their loved ones again. We will have many opportunities to counsel and witness to families after this whole ordeal is over. Pray for the power of the H.S. upon our ministry as we continue on.
Fifth hole
Most of the families are beginning to lose hope, yet the fifth borehole still gives some hope. We continue to have prayer before and after the family updates and our presence there has been a stabilitating factor. No LDS presence has been there and only once did a priest show up. God is impressing upon hearts the emptiness of religion and the benefits of a relation. Continue to pray.
Continued ministry to miners families
God has given us a unique opportunity to minister in this situation. The first day of the mine collapse, Penny and I went to check on our families to see if they were affected. When we got there we realized that several of our families were connected to the miners that were trapped. I stayed for the companies meeting with the families and realized that many of the Hispanics would not understand and later translated what was said to them. Since then I have been translating everyday for the two sessions and throughout the day we counsel and witness. May God continue to give us strength to go on.
Miners families desperate
Sunday the 19th at the regular miners family update, the news hit hard that they may never recover their loved ones. We spent most of the day counseling and comforting family members. We held a special service at the church where we are meeting yet many were too distraught to attend. Continue to pray for strength to continue ministering to these families.
Bilingual Service planned for miners families
Sunday the 19th of August, we will be holding a special bilingual service for the miners and their families. Pray that God would bring them out and many might be comforted and others come to know Him through this tragedy.
Change of location of mine updates
We have been meeting in the jr. High in Huntington for the family updates everyday, but we are now moving to an Evangelical church at the end of town. This will continue to enhance our opportunities to minister to these people. The Mormon church offered their facilities but refused to serve coffee and/or allow people to smoke in the parking lot, so this has opened the door for Christians to minister to them. Keep praying!
Strength received
All of your prayers for us have given us strength. We know we would not be able to continue if the prayers for us were not offered up. People at the site tell us we have been a great asset and cannot understand why and how we do what we do without being paid by the company. PTL!
Crandal Canyon Mine
We continue to minister to the Hispanic community that has been affected by the Crandall Canyon Mine collapse. We have had numerous opportunities to witness and show the Love of Christ. There has been a great contrast in what we do and that of the Catholic church and Mormon churcn. Pray for eternal results from this.
Lizet is well
I just wanted to mention that Lizet has been operated on and she is in recovery. Things are going well on that front. Pray for the salvation of her father.
Service of Hope
We organized a "Service of Hope" at the center where the family members of the miners are on Sunday evening. About 75 people attended. We had special music in English and Spanish and two messages that also were translated. We sang hymns in both languages at the same time and had a very special service. Pray that the lasting effect on these people would be the spiritual impact that we have had on them.
Continued support for miners
We have been at the site where the family members are everyday. I have been put in charge of all the religious activity and am head of the translation crew. It has been a marvelous opportunity to witness to the govenor Huntman, Senator Hatch, the head of the Sheriffs department and so many other government and social workers. At first we figured on facing all kinds of Mormon presence here but there has been NONE! PTL! Continue to pray for us.
Miners trapped
Please pray for all the miners that are trapped in the Huntington mine. We have three hispanics that are trapped, one whose name is Luis Hernandez is the husband of Karime that we have been holding bible studies with for several months. We went tonight 8/6/07 to be with all the hispanic families to translate for them and I held a prayer service right there in the center where the families were waiting news.
